You're going to have to have that confidence for the both of us.
[ if jyn was with cassian or clarke or marcos this might be easier, but she's alone and daisy and illya are gone so she was already fragile; now the idea of this almost inescapable danger is eating away at her. ]
[ is that something nice about his boyfriend? while Akechi is showing his ruthless side? well, he's a little proud. it's nice to know there are people who will stick by him. ]
Yeah, me too.
[ said as the leader of the Phantom Thieves. there's a couple reasons why he likes him, after all. ]
He knows what he's doing, and he's good at thinking on the spot.
[ jyn's heart deflates in her chest, thinking of having to add daisy to a long line of people that have left. clarke will understand, but jyn doesn't give voice to that sorrow, shoving it down deep with the rest of them. ]
[ there are sharp little fangs on Akechi's heart, ready to snap at any perceived threat. Ren's become used to it, or maybe it's never bothered him. Akechi cares ... just not in the way that's generally expected. at least Jyn has seemed to catch on to that, he knows how off-putting it can be at times. ]
It's a little more than that. There was an injustice, and he knew that, too.
Monty was with us when we first went to the ground. It means that he had been arrested, as well, before he went. [Has she ever told Jyn that she was arrested? Frankly, most of their "crimes" were meaningless except for on a place like the Ark.] We all were. I can't remember if I've told you that.
Monty was from Farm Station, but he was picked to be an engineer. He did what he could to help us rewire radios, and he mostly worked alongside his best friend Jasper.
He went through a lot. He was there with me and Bellamy when we had to make a difficult choice. One that honestly cost us who we were. And when I couldn't deal, he stayed there with Bellamy.
Just like all of us, Monty lost a lot along the way. But he keep going. Because despite the choices that we forced him to make, there was a part of him that still believed that we could do better. He wanted peace and to be away from all the fighting in our world. He kept trying to help us toward that, even after we fell right back into going to war after the six years that kept us all separated.
And when we went to sleep for a while, it was Monty who took the chance to live a peaceful life with his partner, Harper. Harper was a good balance to Monty. A guard and fighter to balance him out. He was more of a farmer after it all. Even if it was just the two of them, they knew that they had to take that chance. They watched over us and worked tirelessly to find our people a new place to live.
When we finally woke up, Monty and Harper had passed and their son Jordan was there to greet us. Monty left us a message telling us that he believed that humanity wasn't the problem. The issue with the world. He asked us to do better.
[ it's exactly what jyn needs; a wall of text she isn't emotionally attached to. sorry, clarke and cassian, but they were part of her problem at the moment -- jyn's desperation to get back making her sloppy, unfocused. now she has something to focus on. names she doesn't know, lives she doesn't really care about, but somehow, out of nowhere, a reminder of bodhi. ]
The place he got us all to was called Sanctum. You saw a bit of it in my dreams. I'm sorry to say that it isn't the world that he wanted it to be, but he still gave us a chance to find somewhere else, especially if that doesn't work out.
[Oddly enough, the environmental difficulties of Sanctum aren't as bad as the god-fearing people forced to worship others.]
I miss him. I've actually told a few people about him here. Especially after I got back.
[Because his importance to her, his belief in her, meant that much more.
