[there's something to be said about how prompto processes being sad and feeling lonely: at least he becomes more focused on menial tasks and checking off his imaginary to-do list.]
[the busier you are, the less time you have to be in your head, right?]
[ jyn shoots him the address of the fancy ass apartment in the financial district that she and daisy manifest destinied. it's insanely fancy. there is absolutely zero way some degenerate homeless rebel should live in a place like this.
[it'll be close to forty minutes, truth be told, when prompto makes his way to the financial district. he's not been in this area a lot, so he got a little lost even with the online map to guide him.]
[ they have a doorman because this place is offensively fancy, but jyn's down and out the door a few minutes later, holding it open for prompto to come on into the lobby. she still looks a rumpled mess because of who she is as a person, living in a ridiculously fancy apartment changes nothing. ]
Hey. Come in. You're on the guest list now, they'll let you in next time.
[ can't stress enough how fancy it is, it's horrifically opulent. at least to jyn. she hates it so much but she loves it because now it is hers. even if it is full of people that would probably hate her and the rest of the displaced. fuck them. ]
[his surprise is easy to hear in his voice as he walks along with here. he's carrying everything his backpack, slung on his shoulders, but his hands are holding onto the camera strapped around his neck.]
This place looks so expensive! How did you even get it?
[ she'll explain it on the roof but rn they are in the snake pit of rich bitches so into the elevator they go, a whir as it brings them up. she bypasses the apartment for now, that is an adventure for another day and honestly probably someone else, and they are brought right up to the roof, doors opening with a soft chime. it's a rooftop garden! ]
Ours is over here. [ and jyn heads in the direction of their cluster of plots. she requested a lot. ] Daisy and I found it, in the dream, put our name on it. [ jyn and daisy were the friends in high places. ] Now it's ours.
[the explanation makes sense, thanks to the experience they all shared. prompto follows towards one of the plots and gets on his haunches both to put down his backpack with the seeds and also to look it over from a more ground-based perspective.]
[arms at his knees, he looks up at her and whistles, squinting a little at the sunlight streaming from between buildings.]
It's a good spot for sunlight. Dunno how the climate this high up is gonna affect the growth, though.
Oh! Must have been nice! [living on a farm, in the countryside... what's that like? he's a city boy through and through.] You said Earth's flora was strange to you. What kind of stuff are you used to, then?
—wanna work on the tent together, or you rather do it on your own?
[his end of the deal was to bring the tomato seeds, anyway]
[ you know when someone offers something only to be polite? well jyn struggles even with sounding polite. social niceties are not her strong suit, but prompto is literally so much like a puppy it's hard not to give in to his genuine enthusiasm. ]
Some planets had plants that were similar and I'm sure the structure will be as similar. [ a shrug; a shrub is a shrub, a climbing vine is a climbing vine, some things seem universal. she tries to remember what her mother told her about lokori, even though the plants there were far from familiar to her, they were plentiful. ]
Lokori had these enormous flowers, I think they were red, and they were taller than you. Instead of following the sun like most plants do, they would follow the moon's rise. Except Lokori had two moons and sometimes the plant would try to follow both moons at once and split down the middle, juice or sap pouring out of the stem. [ a beat. ] Smelled horrid.
[he smiles at that, no matter how rude it sounded. it must say quite a bit of prompto if he is used to this kind of interaction from others. he listens on, however, because jyn seems to really enjoy talking about plants.]
Sounds like something I'd find in a story book for kids, though. Even the horrid smell bit. A sort of warning, or something. Try spinnin' that into the moral of a story, right?
[he snorts, pushing up onto his feet]
Have you been to the Bloem District yet? There's a lot of flowers and plants there. They're working on trees with bright pink leaves, all natural, apparently. I'm more of a city guy, really, but I can see the appeal in plants. Especially in a place like this.
Did both moons travel different directions, then? [he raises his hands, index fingers touching and then moving opposite directions] That's gotta be quite the night show, huh.
[ jyn glares at him but there isn't much heat to it. she just has all the rage of a tiny person that wants to be tall and HATES EVERYTHING. it's only because prompto isn't seventeen feet tall like illya that she lets it slide. ]
[it's not always that he can poke fun at someone's height. prompto is always the target of such comments, among his friends.]
[he nods at her comment and then smiles.]
I may have found something of a blind spot for the light pollution, further out of the city center. I took pictures of the sky once and got to photograph stars.
[ it's the most diplomatic answer she can muster, but at least she isn't outright like "nah tho." she is just a taciturn person the majority of the time, this is why she only has two friends. ]
@prom.argentum
[the busier you are, the less time you have to be in your head, right?]
i got tomato seeds 🤟
no subject
The red fruit.
[ she had to look it up, but they look cute. she'll have to build a cage to support the vines, maybe there are supplies on the roof. ]
no subject
they had cherry tomatoes
i've always thought they looked really cute so i wanna see if you can try growing them
do you need anything else while i'm out here?
no subject
Earth flora is foreign to me.
no subject
so i guess that's lucky
do you have an address for me to go to?
no subject
and yet. ]
I'll have to meet you at the door.
no subject
that's cool by me
let you know when i'm there!
[it'll be close to forty minutes, truth be told, when prompto makes his way to the financial district. he's not been in this area a lot, so he got a little lost even with the online map to guide him.]
i think i'm at the right place!
at the lobby...

We know friends in high places.

[it was, in fact, a lot chillier up on the roof.]

I can start them inside if I have to.
no subject
[he thinks... he's not exactly a green thumb.]
But, just to be safe, maybe do both? Keep a batch inside, another in a tent.
[he rests his weight on his elbows, looking at her]
You into gardening and stuff?

[ when she was pre-school age but jyn isn't the type to share about herself so that is all prompto gets. ]

[ she doesn't remember any of it, but yolo. prompto is right, jyn enjoys talking about plants. and that's about it. ]
no subject
[he teases--sorry, jyn (he's not even that much taller in comparison lmao)]
It's cool. We don't get to see anything special here with all the lights at night, so we can't even remember we're missing something, right?
no subject
The light pollution is terrible.
[ how are they meant to see all the stars??? ]
no subject
[he nods at her comment and then smiles.]

[casually] I think it's about time I go get some more pictures of the night sky sometime soon.
