[ jyn slouches toward the kitchen, assuming catra will follow her, and opens the pantry door. she leaves it open for catra to go in and take something to eat while jyn pours herself a glass of water. the pantry is FULL of food. four orphans, two of whom were homeless, living together means a lot of shelf stable food because, at least for jyn, there is always this lingering feeling that the stability is going to slip through her fingers so she stocks up now while she has the chance.
jars and jars and jars of fruits and veggies, jams and jellies and mango chutney, boxes of pasta and noodles and cereals, bags of rice and beans, tins of fish and milk and spaghetti, a large crate of brown bread in cans. everything in recyclable packaging, of course, and there is a whole bowl of satsumas on the kitchen island where jyn perches. ]
We stole it. It was during a weird, communal dream... thing. Daisy had the idea to take it so I carved our names into the door. When we woke up our names were on the lease.

[ she subsisted on protein milk for her adolescent years and protein cubes in prison so jyn will pretty much eat anything that isn't milk or cubed. or bunn. she may have had enough bunn for a lifetime. ]

[ She isn't sure how she feels about it yet. The flavour is so overwhelming and unlike anything else she's ever eaten before. She takes another very small bite, like she's trying to figure out if she likes it or not. ]

They're... salty. But not bad salty? I don't know.
All we had in the Fright Zone was ration bars. You could choose the grey kind or the brown kind. So it's a step up, at least. If I never have to eat another ration bar again, it'll be too soon, haha.
[ her cheeks puff up before she blows out the breath. what was liana hallik charged with? she had many arrest warrant across many aliases and liana's were all lies so she isn't sure she actually remembers correctly. there wasn't exactly a trial. ]

It was a set-up. I mean I did it, I did all of it, but I only got caught because it was a set up.
[ jyn shrugs, an expansive gesture. she was an excellent little thief, the perfect size for sneaking, and none of her warrants or records counted anything she did with the partisans.
