It's just as strange to be able to feel the tension come back into her, but maybe not, when he thinks about the increasing ease he has when it comes to reading her.
He taps his fingers over her waist, perfectly content and comfortable from his spot on the bed looking up at her, even if he knows the moment is soon to end. Duty calls. He keeps tapping her, like he can stretch it out, even if his own frame gets a little nervous. "The signs might also be saying we can come right back here later. And tomorrow. And the next day too."
Basically, as long as they want, Cassian wants nothing less than to keep holding her in his arms in his bed, with some kisses stolen in between.
Jyn almost adds "and the next day" but she knows one of those next days is going to find her alone in Cassian's bed (their bed, now) and she is avoiding thinking about being cold and lonely.
"Well they would say that. This is my room now, too." A lopsided, teasing smile softens her expression. "You're going to have to let me pick the passcode eventually."
Prickling thoughts about his next mission always sort of linger, but right now Cassian just wants to imagine coming back to this, to her, to settle in for the night. For a lot of nights.
His face softens into a quiet smile over the idea of it being their room, even though they've already established that. "It might be our room now, but you are still not picking the passcode."
"Then I hope you enjoy your self-imposed grounding because I'm changing it the second you leave for another mission." You can't stop her Cassian! It's her room now, she can just complain to IT and they'll have to reset it for her because it's their room.
They aren't even a thing -- not in any kind of way that involves talking about what they are, what they became after Jedha and Eadu and Scarif -- but it's still their room. Funny how that worked out.
Her fingers trace across his stubble. "I promise it'll be long and convoluted and in at least four languages and one word will have no direct translation to Basic and the numbers when combined will equal the square root of seventeen."
His eyes flutter shut for a moment when she traces her hand on his face, his smile deepening both from the touch and the teasing. They should probably talk about what they are, but it feels like they've already taken a big enough step for today.
"We need to find a middle ground here," he says, looking back up at her. He draws a circle on her waist, where his arm is still draped. He should sit up, but he likes the view of her sitting up next to him. "Or maybe a secondary passcode, for you. We don't need to start a war of the ever-changing codes."
He knows she hates how long and annoying his are. He knows a lot of things about her by now.
"You're just saying that because I just guessed how you decided your passwords." Obviously she is fine with some kind of common ground or a backup, but it doesn't mean she is going to stop teasing him over his kind of charming neuroses.
Her nails drag across his jaw line idly, eyes drifting to his mouth because apparently she has a one track mind right now.
"The more complicated it is, the safer it is, Jyn," he says this with an air of that it's a conversation he's had many times, with many people but definitely with Jyn too. His passcodes are flawless.
He briefly closes his eyes once more, because the feeling of her nails on his jaw is too nice, but it's impossible to miss where her own gaze lands; he finds himself smiling, somewhere between a grin and a smirk. "I'm not going to complain if you kiss me again."
She does lean down to kiss him, even if she half wants to refrain out of stubbornness alone, but she lingers over his mouth, not quite kissing him as her hand splays against his neck.
"No one even wants to break into your room, Cassian, there's nothing to steal." His datapad, yes; the safe he probably does actually have hidden in this room, sure. The door doesn't need to have such a complicated password.
She smiles down at him. "And if they did, now they would be breaking into my room." Finally she will kiss him because she's made her very valid point. Honestly whomever is brave enough to break into the combined room of Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso deserves less convoluted password, especially since Jyn will punch them for their trouble.
It's not necessarily that he's worried about being burgled - he just doesn't want to be surprised. Keeping his room under lock and key with overly complicated passwords helps keep him calm and feel safe.
He smiles though, especially with the way she hovers just above his mouth and it takes every bit of restraint not to close the gap himself. His hand teases at her waist until she finally kisses him, but then his fingers tighten like he wants to keep her there. "Our room," he corrects between kisses. But the concept also makes it sound safer, because Jyn is a force to be reckoned with. "But the passcodes stay, even with the threat of your fist too. It's like double security."
She hums a smile against his mouth, shaking her head like she can't believe the man she's rooming with but at the same time... it's part of what she loves about him. Er, likes.
"Fine," she relents, "but only because you're very distracting right now." Wasn't she supposed to be meeting Leia? And getting food? And hugging Bodhi? So many things to do and she just drapes herself more comfortably across Cassian's chest, relishing the closeness.
Something settles in him with her fine, as aggressively Jyn it sounds, and he smiles again, kissing her again too.
Cassian knows how to be a tactical distraction, but he likes the way Jyn laying across him feels as a success much better. His arm settles around her easily, tucking in like it belongs there. "Speak for yourself," he says, and he kisses the top of her head. Jyn is definitely like a hurricane of distraction, as though he's not keeping her pressed to him and making it worse on his end. "But you really should not be too late."
"No, I shouldn't," she agrees with a hum, not moving even a centimeter from her spot. Eventually, however, her commlink chirps with Bodhi's sleepy voice saying her name with his voice pitched up in a hopeful question and she taps it with a quiet "Be right there" because if there is one thing Jyn Erso can't say no to, it's Bodhi Rook.
Sorry, Princess Leia, the same thing can't be said for her.
Begrudgingly, Jyn pushes off Cassian's chest again, sitting up for real this time before clambering over Cassian to sit on the edge of the bed and yank her boots on. She decides she's going to borrow his coat. "Come on, we can grab food and bring Bodhi to training with Leia. He needs it."
He doesn't move from his spot at first, almost like maybe if he keeps still they'll get to stay like this, even though he's the one who pushed to get going out of bed in the first place. He watches her anyway, like putting on a pair of boots is a grand moment to memorize. He already misses her warmth against him, but he sighs, long and suffering despite the soft smile on his face as he finally sits up too.
"He'll be fine. I'm far more interested in eating something substantial first."
And the nap later. Definitely the nap later, because he's exhausted but now Jyn will definitely be there, curled up with him and Cassian is absolutely looking forward to it.

He's too much of a paranoid asshole, sorry Jyn.
