[ what if she just... doesn't answer that first part. she can handle the pity, she got plenty of it when they returned from eadu, she doesn't want cassian and kay and bodhi to deal with it to. ]
The Force is everything. It's
hard to explain. It would be a very long message. It might scroll. [ slowly, in yellow block print over a starry background. ]
[ at least not one that would make sense without context. jyn had grown up with a force-sensitive mother, it had always been a part of her life, even with her father being so scientifically minded. ]
The Force is energy created by life that surrounds us all.
There is a species of rodent on the planet Alpinn that were born without eyes because the white rocks of the planet were so bright that if they could see, the reflection of the sun off the white stone would blind them. Then have no concept of light because sight isn't even one of their senses. Even though we know of light and suns, they do not.
The Force is like a sun. It touches everything and it connects all things. Most people are like the Alpinn rodents and can't feel the Force, but some people are born sensitive to it and can feel it moving and surrounding people. In rare cases, there are people born that are so sensitive to the Force that they can bend it to their will and use it. There are no Jedi left though, they all died in the Clone Wars.
[ she thinks all that is accurate but she hasn't read about alpinn since she was very young and the clone wars were back when she was small enough to fit into a back pack carrier. no doubt chirrut would have a better explanation, but yuuri's stuck with jyn. ]
I think I sort of get it. It's not called the Force, but some people back home believe they have a sixth sense of some kind. Not an exact match, but it's still a kind of power that not everyone really understands or believes in.
It sounds like the Force is accepted as fact in your universe, though. Is anyone you know sensitive to it?
A friend of mine, yes. [ chirrut was a jedi in everything but name, really, and the more jyn thinks about it, the more she believes baze was the same, only far less vocal about it. he had very good aim. ]
[ i mean, yes, definitely to a degree, but jyn doesn't think that personally. maybe she's too close to the situation to realize that she's definitely on the side of force sensitive. ]
( fine in tiny little letters that can't find the shift key. also, being not-quite-but-dangit-almost-engaged to someone who suffers from severe anxiety and shuts down when things get to be too much... he's better at hazarding guesses these days. )
I'm an athlete, I'm more concerned about proper muscle to fat ratios than if someone is built to be thick or thin, and even then, only with those I'm coaching!
( going to pick up something and head on over, dududu )
[ yeah, that's good, she'll just distract victor with cassian because his injuries are physical and can be fussed over and jyn is avoiding him for a bit so someone else needs to fuss over him. give kay a break. ]
I'm planning on visiting with Cassian later today. I'll let him know you're worried about him and hoping for his full recovery.
( since clearly that is what is also being said, outside of the obvious "go away and leave me alone." which, frankly, he could listen to. it's his decision to not.
which is why, before too many minutes longer, there's a knock at her door. )
[ she is a bristly as an angry kitten and then he's knocking at the door. it takes longer than usual to open the door and when it slides open the reason is obvious because the door locking mechanism built into the wall is broken. there are scrapes and bruises on jyn's knuckles. it's fairly obvious what happened. ]
I'm not worried about him, [ she says, worried, arms crossing over her chest. she doesn't invite him in. ]
( his eyes skim over the mechanism, catching sight of Jyn's hands only briefly before she's crossing them over her chest. ah. he hands over the bag of baked, savory pastry, smiling pleasantly enough. her body posture, even how she speaks, says otherwise to him. it's a bit like talking with Yurio; the nostalgia is a warm and sad thing in his heart. )
It's natural that you would be. He was concussed, right? Most the cerebral swelling must have gone down by now.
( concussions being not so uncommon in his line of work. regardless: the bag. )
Sorry, I know I asked a lot of questions. I guess I kept asking because it sounds like you and Captain Andor have a lot more experience with...everything.
You're just like him. [ she snatches the bag out of victor's hand and steps back to set it on the desk. it's the only opening for him to come in. as much as she obviously cares about cassian, that was not a compliment. she parrots in a perfect facsimile of cassian's accent: ] I've had concussions before. As if that makes it better.
[ jyn's room proper is kind of a mess. the mattress is missing from her bunk because they'd used hers and bodhi's to make their makeshift bed in rogue one, but a nest of blankets has been piled in it's place. a pile of clothes in the corner. she clearly doesn't give a shit about the state of the place.
