[ Cassian's laughter slowly peters out and he runs a fingertip along the shell of her ear. ] I'm not terribly fond of the idea of you getting arrested. [ Again. Ever. ]

[realists]

Elskede? [ Cassian grins. ] I don't think anyone could keep you out of trouble.

Friend. [ LIAR and tbh she is not as accomplished a liar as galen. ] In Grange. Papa used to speak it at home.

[ouzel]

[ Cassian is good at spotting lies and thus, leaves it be. He has a special word in her father's language, he's not going to go demeaning that by demanding honesty about it. Pfft. ] Is it a difficult language to learn?

[realists]

Not really. The alphabet is the same as basic. [ her expression screws up in thought. ] The accent can be difficult, I guess, but it's mostly phonetic.

[ouzel]

[ Cassian makes a considering noise. ] I'd like to learn. [ Something she can teach him. ]

[realists]

What? [ she seems surprised by that, like it wasn't a possibility that she had thought of. HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO HIDE HER ROMANTIC PET NAMES IF HE UNDERSTANDS IT!!! ] Alright, yeah.

[ouzel]

It doesn't have to be right now. [ Cassian's eyes twinkle a little. Either she's calling him something sweet or something salty, he doesn't particularly care, but he is charmed. ]

[realists]

Alright. You teach me to cook and I will teach you Grange. [ and she will just never tell him the real word for friend. ven is a boring word anyway. ]

[ouzel]

What do you want to learn first, cooking wise, mi querida? [ They could start with basics, or making a full meal of something she likes. ]

[realists]

[ she squints ]

What's that mean?

[ouzel]

[ Cassian is the better liar, but he is also trying very hard not to lie to her. About anything, even something as simple as a word in a language she can't speak. ]

Mi is my, mine. Querido is darling, querida indicates that I'm talking about a woman.

[realists]

[ if he has said friend she probably would have smacked him so it's for the best. instead of violence she ducks her head against his hip, knowing full well he knows what elskede means in that case. ]

We can keep calling each other friends if you want, [ He says, hopefully not too quickly. The truth of the matter is he's never done this, never had someone completely on his mind and in his orbit as much as Jyn is, and he's pretty sure the same is for her. ]

[realists]

We are friends. [ friends who sleep in the same bed and are violently opposed to being apart. she can't apply how she feels about cassian to baze and chirrut though. ] What's after friends?

[ouzel]

We may be more than that. [ His fingers tangle in the hair at the back her neck. ] Novios or parejas. [ A beat. ] The first is more...romantic. Implies we are together.

[realists]

[ she's quiet for probably too long to be anything but stressful for cassian. ] I would prefer novios. What does the second mean?

[ouzel]

[ It is stressful, and Jyn might be able to tell in the way he almost holds his breath and blinks slowly at her response. ]

[realists]

Is there a word for both? [ married, babe. that would be married. ]

[ouzel]

[ Cassian gives a quiet chuckle. ] Not without paperwork.

[realists]

Perhaps... later. [ which seems to be only because she doesn't want to move and not because the idea of it offends her. ]

[ Cassian just stares at her for almost a full minute. ]
