Spice, always. I also like toast but I don't care for bread much otherwise. Coffee and tea, for different reasons. [ He smiles down at her, curling into him like that. ]

What reasons do you have for liking coffee? [ SUDDENLY FINDS HIM UNATTRACTIVE jk she is just curious ]

Tea is good for...ritual. Quiet moments. Time with others. Coffee is a good base; you can add things to it. Sweet things, spices, anything really.

[realists]

You can add spices to tea. And sweet things; fruit and honey and sugar. [ a beat. ] All they give you in prison is coffee. I lost my taste for it.

[ouzel]

That's understandable. [ It upsets him that she was in prison to begin with, honestly, but there's a whole lot of nothing he can do about it.

He captures her hand and kisses her fingers. ]

[realists]

Baze said Jedha was the first time you'd been in a cell. [ casually admits she straight up talked about him behind his back ITS FINE ]

[ouzel]

Mhm. [ Cassian raises his eyebrows and nods. ] You can't do much from inside in intelligence work.

[realists]

[ honestly, jyn knows that if they had caught him, even before scarif, they probably wouldn't have bothered with a cell. if she was a liability, cassian was... far more important. ]

I learned things, [ she protests with a touch of lightheartedness, trying for some levity to the subject matter. ] Mostly about the gross bodily function of my cellmate admittedly. Great exercise, at least.

[ girl has got GUNS SON. ]

[ He's noticed, for sure. ]

How long were you there?

[ They never told him. ]

[realists]

On Wobani? Not very long. [ more than a day, less than a couple of months, but she decides that isn't worth noting to cassian. worth noting is that this little troublemaker had to clarify this particular prison when calculating her sentence. like gd girl. ]

[ouzel]

[ Cassian tilts his head at her. ] Alright.

Was it always forgery? [ Was it always inadvertently helping other people? Or not so inadvertently, really. ]

[realists]

[ her mouth twists. ] Theft, assault, disorderly conduct, inciting a riot -- which wasn't true, mind. Uh, piloting without a valid license, reckless endangerment. [ her thoughtful expression turns sheepish. ] Indecent exposure.

[ouzel]

[ Okay and Cassian feels like he should've seen that little laundry list coming, honestly, but the last one: ] That's a story.

[realists]

We were in one of those... [ she snaps her fingers looking for the right word. ] It's not a church, but. A monastery! We needed a distraction and you wouldn't believe how long it's been since some of those old monks have seen a woman. [ jyn is a wonderful distraction. ]

[ouzel]

[ Cassian's expression shifts from curious to amused to horrified and back to amused again before he gives in and laughs, only a little embarrassed. ]

Those poor monks.

[realists]

Excuse you! [ she lightly smacks at his arm as if offended ]

[ouzel]

Ow. [ He rubs his arm but keeps laughing. ] I can only imagine living a life of celibacy and religious truth just to have this tiny terror flash me and bring it all into question at the ripe old age of 72.

[realists]

[ she cackles with laughter, never having heard it put quite that way before. ]

I'm not a terror, thank you very much.

[ouzel]

You are quite the terror.

[realists]

[ still laughing: ] Well, it worked so. [ so there. ]

[ouzel]

[ Cassian's laughter slowly peters out and he runs a fingertip along the shell of her ear. ] I'm not terribly fond of the idea of you getting arrested. [ Again. Ever. ]

[realists]

That's what you're for, elskede. To keep me out of trouble.

[ouzel]

Elskede? [ Cassian grins. ] I don't think anyone could keep you out of trouble.

[realists]

Friend. [ LIAR and tbh she is not as accomplished a liar as galen. ] In Grange. Papa used to speak it at home.

[ Cassian is good at spotting lies and thus, leaves it be. He has a special word in her father's language, he's not going to go demeaning that by demanding honesty about it. Pfft. ] Is it a difficult language to learn?
